I meant to make this more ceremonial but I kind of need to just get it out there: I will no longer be posting on Tumblr. lunar.tumblr.com has had a pretty cool 9 year run but the Tumblr substrate is no longer nutritional enough. I’m moving to Are.na. Their mycelium is top notch. They don’t appear like they will become toxic to a community and trees of knowledge that is built upon it. Their structures are more transparent and they make it a priority to make it easy for users to uproot to a new tool should are.na no longer suit them. It’s not built to maximize likes and eyeballs. It’s built as a tool for humans.

Anyway. I’ve already been posting a lot there as you can see. Are.na is not tumblr, it will be different. Ultimately it would be cool to re-build lunar with the same CSS and just pull from the are.na channel.

I’ll also be moving other tumblrs under my control to are.na including Free Gadget Porn which has already made a home there.

Oh also I need to archive Lunar… Seems like self-hosting Wordpress and using the tumblr->wordpress migration thing is the most accurate and resilient? Kind of a pain in the ass.

I’ll still come back here from time to time to try and clean it up a bit I think but otherwise all new activity will happen at THE NEW LUNAR!
